Travel Advice Or How To Fly Without Being Annoying To Others

By Erika Ferrerat

Everyone has been there. While on a trip there is someone who is annoying every step of the way. Some of the most annoying people are often found in airports and on airplanes. The following travel advice can keep you from becoming the annoying traveler whether traveling domestically or internationally.

If seated in coach you will likely have to share armrests with other passengers. In the three seat arrangement, there are six arms and only four armrests. If you are fortunate enough to have the extra room on the aisle seat or the view from the window, you have at least one armrest that is yours. Give the traveler in the middle a break by allowing him to use the armrest.

While children love to take a trip and the adventures open new worlds for them, they should be prepared for the airplane ride. Chewing gum can prevent the pressure from affecting their ears. Bring their own carry-on with things to keep them busy for the duration of the flight. Remember they have a short attention span, so bring a variety of portable activities. If there is to be an in flight meal, call ahead and ask for the kid friendly option that they will enjoy more.

While it may be tempting to recline one's seat for a nap, consider what that does to the person behind you. The seat back just reduced his or her leg room. The neighbor can no longer enjoy the seatback television for the flight. If attempting to work on a laptop in flight, the individual is no longer able to open the screen to the optimal angle for viewing. The lap tray becomes virtually useless. Keep the seat back up if at all possible and if it is necessary to recline at all, keep it to a minimum.

Avoid being the traveler who knows everything. Regardless of how often one flies, rules can change. TSA and airline employees do know their job, so avoid arguing. Once the final destination is reached, take the time to listen to what the locals say in order to learn more. Do not be the traveler who compares everything in this location to what happens back home.

Flight attendants work hard to ensure everyone has an enjoyable flight. They have many passengers needing their attention for the flight. If something is needed use the call button and be patient. Do not snap your fingers to get their attention as surveys show this to be extremely annoying of passengers.

The increased security at airports makes traveling more difficult for everyone; however, the individuals are there to make the plane safer for everyone. Be cooperative with the personnel. Plan ahead and have the liquids easily available in the luggage for their inspection. Wear shoes that can easily be slipped off and back on at the check point. Remove all metal items before passing the scanner.

Regardless of the reason one is traveling, it is important to be courteous to others. They could have saved for months to take the trip. With this travel advice you can avoid being the one who ruins their trip.
